After serving as a Rescue Swimmer in the U.S. Navy, Matt Richardson returned to Oklahoma with a drive to contribute to the development of his home state. In 2008, he and his wife, Carly, formed Viking Construction to specialize in commercial millwork, quickly earning a reputation for quality work and dependability, contributing to several prominent projects such as Oklahoma City’s Devon Tower.

​At the request of clients, they expanded into general contracting to provide a more comprehensive set of construction services, launching Shellback General Contracting in 2013. Since then, Shellback has grown from a promising startup into a trusted name in construction by committing to handling projects with a people-first philosophy that permeates every level of the company.
